Preaching that holds attention does not depend on novelty or performance, but on clarity, order, and faithful communication. In The Ten Laws of Highly Compelling Preaching, David de Bruyn presents ten enduring principles that help preachers shape sermons that are clear, purposeful, and engaging without sacrificing substance.

Drawing from pastoral experience, these “laws” address structure, focus, and progression, offering guidance for preaching that serves both the mind and the conscience. This book calls preachers away from gimmicks and toward careful craftsmanship in the pulpit, reminding us that compelling preaching flows from truth well expressed.

David de Bruyn serves as pastor of New Covenant Baptist Church in Johannesburg, South Africa and resides with his wife and three children. He is a graduate of Central Baptist Theological Seminary in Minnesota and the University of South Africa (D.Th.). David hosts a weekly radio program that is heard throughout much of central South Africa, serves as a frequent conference speaker, and is a lecturer at Shepherds Seminary Africa.
